New Programs/Events
Adult Soccer League
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will begin an adult
soccer league in late March. All teams are guaranteed 10 matches
with a single elimination tournament. Absolutely no rough or overly
competitive play allowed. FIFA soccer rules will be followed. Teams
can be co-ed. Games will be played on the Oak Island soccer field at
Middleton Park. Team Fee is $100. Call 278-4747 for more

April 15th- Bingo Games-Recreation Center, 6-8pm $1 ages 5-18
April 16th- Planting Shrubs & Game Day-Recreation Center, 10am-4pm
ages 5-18
April 16th- T.C. Help at Nursing Home, 2pm ages 10-18

50+ Softball League
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will hold
registration for softball for men ages 50 and older and women ages
18 and older beginning March 15th. The season will begin in
mid-April and run through the end of May. All games will take place
on the softball fields at Middleton Park. Deadline for registration
is April 8th. Fee is $10 residents and $15 non-residents. Call
278-4747 for more information.
Summer Day Camp
Registration
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for summer day camps. Registration forms and brochures
detailing camp information are available at the Recreation Center
and online. Space is limited for each camp and slots will be filled
on a first-come, first-served basis. For additional information
about the registration process, call 278-5518.
Women Anglers in Training
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department and NC Sportsman
Magazine will sponsor a Women Anglers in Training program April 30th
through May 1st. This is a women’s only weekend dedicated to
teaching women the basics of fishing. There will be hands-on
classroom activities, as well as, a day of fishing. Costs start at
$50. Call 278-4747 for more information.
Open House
The Oak Island Community Resource Center will hold an open house on
April 8, 2005 from 12pm-3pm. The center is located at 4700 E. Oak
Island Drive, Unit C (across from the Town Hall). Parents as
Teachers and Brunswick County Health Department will be on site to
provide information. Immunizations available between 9:30am-4pm.
Pre-registration options for 2005 Fall Preschool and After school
with the Community Resource Center. Call 278-3622 for more
information.
NOTE: BY LAW,
appropriate car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and
under or 80 pounds when participating in Recreation Department
programs involving transportation.
