January 31, 2009 – Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina (NC) - Silver Coast Winery has been awarded 6 medals in the 2008 Wines of the South Competition.

2008 Wines of the South Competition, held November 22, 2008 at the UT Conference Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, had 433 wines entered and awarded 81% of these with a medal. Silver Coast Winery accumulated 6 additional medals to add to the 219 awards they have garnered over the past 6 years.

Silver Coast boasted Bronze Medals with their 2006 American Oak Chardonnay, 2005 Seyval Blanc & 2002 Merlot as well as a Silver Medals for the Premium Oak Chardonnay, 2005 Reserve Merlot and 2004 Tesouro.

Silver Coast Winery owner, Maryann Azzato, proudly proclaimed, “215 Medals and counting. We are so proud of our staff and all the effort that is put into each bottle of wine, and especially thankful to our loyal patrons for if it was not for our customers we would not be able to be here.” The public is invited to visit for tours and tastings daily.

Silver Coast Winery is a full winemaking facility housing an eclectic art gallery, unique gift shops, beautiful picnic grounds and monthly festivals. Private parties as well as corporate parties and weddings are welcome. Tours and tastings Monday through Saturday form 11 am – 5pm and on Sunday form noon till 5pm.
