Silver Coast Winery
Garners Multiple Awards
At Pacific Rim Wine Competition and the
23rd Annual Tasters Guild International
June
1, 2010 –
Ocean Isle Beach, North
Carolina (NC)
- Silver Coast Winery has been honored with two extraordinary
accolades at this year’s annual Pacific Rim Wine Competition held at
the National Orange Show Events Center in Southern California and
the Tasters Guild International, a Wine and Food Appreciation
Society based in Grand Rapids, Michigan held at the Secchia
Institute of Culinary Education.
The first was a Silver Medal
awarded to our 2008 vintage of Viognier; a crisp and elegant white
wine, with nuances of jasmine, honeysuckle and white peach. The
second wine of note was our 2006 vintage of Touriga. This beautiful,
earthy, Bordeaux style red wine was awarded not only a Gold Medal,
it was also chosen as best in its class. This marks the first Double
Gold Award for this vintage of Touriga, and Silver Coast’s wine
maker Dana Keeler said, “I expect continuing recognition for this
vintage of Touriga”. The Pacific Rim Wine Competition has been
setting standards for the judging of fine wines since 1985.
Silver Coast Winery’s 2007
Cabernet Franc, produced from grapes grown exclusively in North
Carolina garnered a Silver Medal at the 23rd Annual Tasters Guild
International competing with 2,200 wines from 10 countries and 32
states/provinces. This wine offers intriguing aromas of blueberries,
dried leaves and cedar which leads to complex flavors of ripe black
plum and cherries.
Silver Coast Winery is a full
winemaking facility housing an eclectic art gallery, two unique gift
shops, and beautiful picnic grounds. Tours and tastings take place
Monday through Saturday from 11 am – 5pm and on Sundays from 12pm –
4pm.
