Oak Island Lighthouse Run & Walk Results Announced

May 5, 2011 - Oak Island, NC - The 13th Annual Oak Island Lighthouse Run & Walk was held on April 16th under partly cloudy skies. It drew a record crowd, despite forecasts for violent storms. There were 534 participants from 16 states creating close to $190,000 in economic impact to the Oak Island area.

Overall winners male & female in the 5k division were Tyler Sink, age 16, from Apex, NC, with a run time of 18:49 and Heidi Pinkerton, age 28, from Greensboro, NC, with a run time of 20:59. Overall winners male and female in the 10k division were Clint Henry, age 24, from Wilmington, NC, with a time of 35:43 and Suzanne Tulsey, age 36, from Oak Island, NC, with a run time of 41:18. Over 75 awards were given out to the winners in the overall, military and 12 age groups.

The Oak Island Lighthouse Run & Walk is an event of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce and held in full cooperation with the N.C. Baptist Assembly @ Fort Caswell, Cape Fear Regional Jetport, Town of Oak Island, and Town of Caswell Beach. The event is held annually the third Saturday of April. In 2012, the event is slated for April 21.
