Silver Coast Winery announced the start of a new
Chapter of the American Wine Society. The new
Chapter will be called the Ocean Isle Beach Chapter
of the American Wine Society (OIBCAWS). It will be
the fifth AWS chapter in North Carolina and the
first in the eastern part of the state. The Ocean
Isle Beach Chapter will be chaired by Ocean Isle
Beach native, Stanley Barwikowski.
"We are very excited to bring the American Wine
Society to the Ocean Isle Beach area," said
Barwikowski. "This will be an excellent way to learn
about wine, appreciate the near-by vineyards, and
taste some of the best wine in the world. Everyone
is welcome."
Chapter meetings will be hosted by Silver Coast at
their facility located at 6680 Barbeque Rd. Ocean
Isle Beach, NC 28469. The inaugural meeting will be
held on August 28th starting at 4:30 PM. The theme
of the meeting will be 'North Carolina Whites for
Those Sizzling Summer Days' and the cost of the
tasting will be $10.
The American Wine Society is the largest and oldest
consumer based wine education organization in North
America. AWS is well respected in the wine industry
and has tremendous relationships with domestic and
international wineries and winemakers.
AWS membership is for anyone who enjoys wine and
wants to learn more about it. Members include wine
lovers from novice to expert, amateur and
professional winemakers, wine educators, and people
in all aspects of the wine industry.
