September 15, 2011 - Leland, NC - This summer the
"Reading Buddies" program at the Leland Family
Resource Center (LFRC) paired young students with
older students and grandparents to work on reading
skills. After a successful trial run, the program is
being extended into the school year. "Young readers
enjoy the one-on-one attention and it transfers to
an enjoyment of the reading experience," explains
Margaret Roseman, LFRC Site Director. Enrollment of
elementary school students is underway. High school
and middle school students are needed as volunteer
Reading Buddies. The LFRC is a program of
