September 16, 2011 - Southport, NC - A new school
year brings challenges for students and their
parents. Help can be found at the Communities In
Schools (CIS) Incredible Years Parenting Classes
scheduled to start on September 20th in Shallotte
and October 3rd in Southport. Targeted for parents
who have children ages 5-12 years old, the program
is FREE of charge and includes dinner. Participants
discuss topics such as praise and limit setting and
learn when to ignore misbehavior. Role-playing and
interactive games make the lessons fun and easy to
incorporate into real world parenting situations.
The twelve-week sessions address the needs of both
parents and children. While the parents are meeting,
their children are in another room learning similar,
age appropriate material. "It's a great way to spend
time with your child while learning new ways of
interacting as a family," explains Debbie Gurreri,
Parenting Education Director. To enroll or learn
