Santa Calling Program -Santa is making a list and
checking it twice. He is also keeping a record of your
good and bad habits. Santa will call children ages 10
and under either of two nights in early December on the
Oak Island Santa Hotline. "Santa Calling" forms will be
available for parents to pick up at the recreation
center after November 15thand must be returned by
December 3. Call 278-5518 for more information.

11/30-12/1 - Brunswick Arts Council's Charles
Dickens Christmas @ Southport -The Charles Dickens
Christmas Festival is one way the Brunswick Arts Council
is reaching out to promote education in arts and culture
in the community, attract customers to local and county
businesses and raise awareness of various arts venues.
At the same time it is recognizing the 200th birthday of
Charles Dickens! Transforming the streets of Southport
into everything Dickens. School children will be
involved in dramatic performances, out of town Dickens
dramatists and educators will perform, there will be
singing groups of all types, plays, artists and
specialty craftsmen, a gingerbread house, Christmas tree
and costume contest, and, of course, FOOD. Some will be
English fare including high tea at several Bed and
Breakfasts! Join us for two days of fun and festivity.

11/30-12/1 - Victorian Tea -1pm-4pm @
Participating Southport Bed & Breakfast Inns. In honor
of the Holiday Season and the first annual Dickens'
Festival in Southport, three of the City's Inns have
teamed up to offer a delightful tea, delicious pastries,
special holiday decorations, music and more! Limited

each of the inns.
12/1 - Pink Heels Fire Truck Visits Oak Island
-12pm-1:30pm @ McNeil's Furniture. "Cares Enough to Wear
Pink" selflessly put women first in the battle against
cancer, at the very least they wear her color to let her
know they CARE! They bring Love & Hope to communities
around the country in the form of Pink Fire Trucks.
Guardians of The Ribbon, dressed in pink fire suits,
will drive pink fire trucks across the country every
year to spread our awareness campaign supporting all
women in their fight against cancer. We inspire cities
and empower leaders to support the women of their
communities to Care Enough to Wear Pink. The Guardians
bring the tour to help raise money and awareness for the
non-profit entities that help women in their City and
State. In addition, this non-profit supports and helps
other non-profit programs raise money by bringing the
pink fire trucks to various fund raisers to assist in
the efforts at no charge to the organization. As
Guardians of The Ribbon, are goal is to spread the
"Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign until all are in
pink shirts. Why? Because Pink Heals! McNeil's Furniture

12/1 - Secret Santa Workshop -12pm-8pm @ Oak
Island Teen Center. Children can purchase a gift and
leave with it wrapped for their parents. Gifts range
from $1-$5. Examples of past gifts include: bath
products, candles, car cleaning products, jewelry,
household items, etc. Oak Island Teen Center, 4601 E.

12/1 - Christmas by the Sea Parade - 2pm @ Oak
Island This is a hometown parade where friends and
neighbors line the streets to cheer in the holiday
season as beautifully adorned homemade floats and decked
out vehicles pass filled with local children, members of
clubs and organizations, business people and local
heroes. The Christmas by the Sea Parade on Oak Island
has been holiday tradition in the Southport-Oak Island
area for almost 30 years. The parade will begin at 46th
Street and traveling Oak Island Drive to McGlamery
Street on Oak Island. There are plenty of places to
watch the parade and with the completion of the second
bridge to Oak Island getting to and from Oak Island is
much easier. The parade is an event of and organized by
the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce in
full cooperation with the Town of Oak Island and Town of
Caswell Beach.
12/2 - Oak Island Beautification Club's Christmas
by the Sea House Tour -1pm-5pm -25th Annual Event. Six
beautifully decorated private homes will be open to the
public to welcome the 2012 holiday season. Advance
tickets will be available at the following locations:
Seaside with Coffee, Oak Island Recreation Center, the
Southport/Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce, and N.C.
Maritime Museum @ Southport. "Day of Tour" tickets will
be available at the Oak Island Rec Center only. Contact:

$10 pp Day of Tour.Tour begins with refreshments and

12/4 - Santa's Fire Engine Ride -6pm-8pm @
Southport Fire Department - Leaves Southport Fire
Department rides through downtown Southport.
12/6-12/7 - SeaNotes Choral Society Holiday

12/7 - North Pole Adventure -5pm-7pm @ Oak Island
Recreation Center Ever wanted to go to the North Pole?
Here is your chance. The Oak Island Parks and Recreation
Department will transform the Recreation Center into the
North Pole. Each room will represent a different area of
the North Pole with a cookie decorating station,
Christmas themed crafts and activities, and a "special
visitor." There will also be a Secret Santa Workshop
that evening, so kids will have one last chance to shop
for their parents. Gifts range between $1-$5.Oak Island

12/7 - First Friday Gallery Walk @ Franklin
Square Gallery - 5pm-7pm - Needlework projects by
members of "Why Not Stitch", a needlepoint group from
Southport will display their latest holiday work along
with holiday crafts, paintings and pottery by members of
Associated Artists of Southport during the monthly
Gallery Walk and reception at Franklin Square Gallery

Island Teen Center-People can bring their pets and buy
presents to give to their human best-friends. Presents
are already wrapped and a treat is placed on top of each
one; animals select a present by eating the treat on
top. Presents range from $1 to $5. Proceeds will go

12/8 - An 18th Century Christmas 1pm-6pm @
Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson Historic Site-Visitors will
get the opportunity to explore how American colonists
celebrated Christmas. Costumed interpreters will provide
guided tours of St. Philips Anglican Church and historic
Brunswick on the hour. The highlight of the evening will
be a period candlelight service in the ruins of St.
Philips Anglican Church. Activities and refreshments
will be available. Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State

12/8 - Southport Christmas Flotilla -7pm-9pm @
Cape Fear River-Anywhere along the river-front from the
Southport Marina/Old Yacht Basin to Kingsley Street will
afford you a view as the beautifully decorated boats
pass by. Boats of all sizes and shapes, power and sail
will illuminate the dart night all the way "From the
North-Pole to South-Port". Once again, Southport
Elementary School art students will judge the boats on
the variety and creativity of their decorations. Cape
Fear River, from the Southport Marina/Old Yacht Basin to
