Ocean Isle Beach Chapter of American Wine Society Announces Tasting Theme For April

Ocean Isle Beach Chapter Meeting April 28, 2013

April 4, 2013 - Ocean Isle Beach, NC - Today the Ocean Isle Beach Chapter of the American Wine Society announced the theme for its next scheduled meeting and wine tasting event.

The Ocean Isle Beach Chapter will hold its next wine tasting event for area wine lovers and their guests on April 28th. The theme for this meeting will be "Exploring Connecticut Wineries." This tasting will feature wines from various Connecticut wineries. Connecticut has 24 commercial wineries that have been producing excellent wine since the 70's. If you’ve never been wine tasting in Connecticut this is your opportunity to see what the state has to offer, besides its world renowned casinos. This event will also have the American Wine Society President, Jane Duralia in attendance.

March's meeting, which featured wines from J. Lohr's Estate Series, was well received by all those in attendance, said Barwikowski, Chapter chair. "J. Lohr's Regional Manager Davis Hyde gave the group an overview of the winery, its biodynamic approach to farming, and its eco friendly facilities. The J. Lohr winery was name "Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in 2011. The Chapter has plans for future tastings which will feature wines from Chateauneuf du Pape, wines from Germany and participation in the national tasting project featuring Rhone style wines. Everyone is welcome to attend chapter meetings."

Chapter meetings are held at the Silver Coast Winery located at 6680 Barbeque Rd. Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. The meeting will be held on April 28th starting at 2:00 PM. Please note that the 2PM starting is a change from normal. The cost of the tasting will be $10 for AWS members. The guest tasting fee is $15, $5 of which will be refunded, if the guest joins the American Wine Society. All guests are urged to bring their favorite wine glass for this event. Prior to the tasting, the chapter will hold a brief meet and greet social with wine, and cheese being served.
