For
more than 200 years Southport, NC has been a center
of celebration in honor of our nation’s
independence. Southport, NC is the official home of
the North Carolina 4th of July Celebration. Over
50,000 people attend the festival each year.
The North
Carolina 4th of July Festival consists of many
events to celebrate the occasion. The Festival
events include: a naturalization ceremony, over 100
arts & craft vendors, food vendors, a 5K Freedom
Run/Walk, a parade televised live on WECT TV-6, a
concert by the Sea Notes Choral Society, live stage
entertainment, fireworks, the Franklin Square Art
Gallery’s National Art Show, children’s
entertainment & games, the opening of the Old Jail,
a pancake breakfast, Beach Day events such as
sandcastle building, surf, horseshoe, volleyball,
shag contests and much more.
