Irwin Peter Krutsch -
Southport
Irwin Peter (Pete)
Krutsch, beloved husband of Betty J. Krutsch, passed
away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2011 to join hands
with his Heavenly Father. His caring family was blessed
that they could be with him at this time.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, Pete is survived by
his loving daughters, Dianne Sue Boguskie (Ed) of
Southport, and Kathy Joyce Rowen (Ron) of Statesville.
He also leaves four grandchildren and five great
grandchildren, as well as one sister and several nieces
and nephews.
Pete served his country in World War II with active duty
in the Air Corps, flying photo reconnaissance and
intelligence missions out of England. When S.H.A.E.F.
Headquarters moved to France, he was assigned there
until December 1945, when he returned home. He then
joined the Grumman Aerospace Corporation on Long Island,
New York where he spent his engineering career working
on many different projects, including the F11F series,
the Gulfstream, the F14 and the Lunar Module. He
continued to work at Grumman until 1977 when he retired
and moved to North Carolina for the good life and to
enjoy our beautiful coast. Pete was a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church in Southport, and a lifelong
member of Spartan Masonic Lodge #956 in New York.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday,
September 10, 2011 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and
Cremation Service in Southport.
Because of Pete’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers
donations may be made to an animal shelter of your
choice.
Although he is no longer with us, he will be forever in
our hearts.
