Barbara Ann Segala -
St. James
Barbara Ann Segala,
70 of St. James, passed away on Monday, November 19,
2012 in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.
Mrs. Segala was
born June 10, 1942 in Staten Island, New York the
daughter of the late Michael Silvestri and Amelia Brogna
Silvestri. Mrs. Segala was a graduate of Hunter College
in Manhattan, New York with a BA in English, and earned
a Masters in Reading from Towson University in Towson,
Maryland. She was a teacher and had taught at the
college level, high school English, and elementary
reading in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Mrs. Segala was a
member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of
the Tappers Extraordinaire, tap dancing group, for the
past 11 years. She was preceded in death by a sister
Rita Brinkley.
Surviving is her husband Peter Segala of the home; two
sons Michael Segala and wife Sloan of Hampton, Georgia
and John Segala and wife Ginger of Ellicott City,
Maryland; a daughter Beth Burgess and husband Mark of
Chantilly, Virginia; a brother Ludwig Silvestri and wife
Gloria; a sister Caryl Santore and husband Albert; a
sister-in-law Sandra Segala all of New Jersey; a
brother-in-law Ronald Brinkley of Maryland; and seven
grandchildren Matthew, Gregory, Isabella, Claire, Luca,
Owen, and Mary.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
November 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Southport with Father Doug Lawson officiating.
