Eunice Marie Edwards - St. James Plantation

Eunice Marie Edwards, of St. James Plantation, NC, died suddenly at home on March 10, 2012.

She was born August 16, 1920 in Pine Bluff, AR, the oldest child of T. Drayton and Lavinia Philips and was preceded in death by brothers Herbert Philips of Pine Bluff and Carey Philips of Oklahoma City, OK. Mrs. Edwards was a hair stylist for 30 years before retiring to Longboat Key, FL in 1975 with her husband M. J. (Ed) Edwards who preceded her in death in 1977. For the past two years she lived with her daughter JoAnn and son-in-law James Norman in St. James. She was known to all for her indomitable spirit, sense of humor and love of life and family. In addition to her working career, she was an accomplished painter, seamstress, and interior designer.

She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, a brother Bobby, and sister-in-law JoAnn Philips of Pine Bluff, and sister-in-law Margaret Philips of Oklahoma City.

She is also survived by granddaughters Julie Matheny of Semmes, AL and Jennifer Robinson of Washington, DC and four great-granddaughters of Semmes.

A memorial service will be held at St. Philips Episcopal in Southport, NC Wednesday, March 14, at 2:00 PM.
