Hildegard Strache - Ocean Isle Beach

Hildegard Strache, of Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle Beach, NC left this world on May 31, 2012 to be with Jesus and her husband, Hermann (the ex-German). She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Wolfgang.

A Tailor by trade and an entrepreneur by choice, she and Hermann were owners and operators of Hildegard’s Restaurant in Highlands, NC until retirement.

Living in Germany at the conclusion of WWII, Hermann and Hildegard met, fell in love and realized they shared the same dreams: to be married, to have a large happy family and to become American Citizens. All three dreams became a reality.

Hildegard is survived by five daughters: Angelika Strache, Helen and her husband Fred Moore and Inge Miller, all of Atlanta, GA. Christa Strache and Jean Chevrefils of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and Hannelore and her husband Jim Martin of Bolivia, NC. One son, Richard and his wife Tita Strache of Tavares, FL; a brother Erich Anwander and wife Ingrid of Karlsfield, Germany. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted in December of this year at Hilton Head Island, SC where the ashes of Hermann and Hildegard will be combined and returned to God’s great earth. Life has been good. Now their dreams of reuniting in heaven has also became a reality.
