Richard Leon
Brendle, Jr. age 81, of Boiling Spring Lakes died
Thursday, September 13, 2012.
Mr. Brendle was
born in Southport on September 3, 1931, son of the late
Richard Leon Brendle, Sr. and Marjorie Newton Brendle.
He was a graduate of Southport High School where he
lettered in every sport. Mr. Brendle was an avid duck
hunter and also loved golf. He was a veteran of the
United States Army and worked as a Cape Fear River pilot
for over 30 years. Mr. Brendle was preceded in death by
a son, James Richard Brendle and granddaughter, Brittany
Elizabeth Brendle.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Annette Brendle of
the home; two sons, Thomas Leon Brendle and wife Allison
and Jefferey Allen Brendle and wife Veronica all of
Boiling Spring Lakes; five grandchildren, Mitchell,
Ryan, Madison, Morgan, and Mason.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Saturday,
September 15, 2012 at Northwood Cemetery with Reverend
Vic Potter officiating.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dosher, Wayne Ludlum, Charles
McKeithan, Ronnie Register, Jimmy Russ and Doug Watts.
Jackie Potter will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm
Saturday at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service in
Southport.
