James H. Flowers -
Boiling Spring Lakes
Mr. James H.
Flowers age 91 of Boiling Spring Lakes died Saturday May
18, 2013 at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was
born in Pittsburg, Pa. on March 12, 1922 and was the son
of the late Leslie and Helen Schaefer Flowers. He was
preceded in death by two children, James and Susan. Mr.
Flowers was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp
serving during World War II as a combat photographer in
the Pacific Theater. He attended monthly meetings in
Wilmington with the World War II organization and was
also a member of the Marine Corp League of Wilmington.
Mr. Flowers volunteered several years with the US Open
King Mackerel Fishing Tournament and the NC Fourth of
July Festival in Southport. He was also a member of the
Coast Guard Auxiliary of Southport.
He is survived by
his wife, Peg Flowers; two sons, Jeffrey Flowers and
David Flowers of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren,
Kristina, Brigitte, Daniel, Corey, Jamie and two great –
grandchildren.
A memorial service
will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at
St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor David Nelson
officiating.
Inurnment will
follow in the church columbarium.
