Southport and Oak Island Vintage Photographs More Pictures
Below, please find
vintage photos of Southport and Oak Island, NC. These photographs
were taken by George Dickieson of Greensboro, North Carolina between 1949 and 1971
on many trips to the Southport area. Mr. Dickieson converted these
photographs to slide format and preserved the integrity of the
images by storing the slides in a metal slide box. Mr. Dickieson
also kept meticulous record of the dates and descriptions of the
subject matter. This allowed for easy identification and dating of
each slide. The Southport
Times acquired these slides in July of 2006 and converted the slides
to digital format for presentation on our website. The
images from the original slides are presented below. |
