Tennis Expertise To St. James Plantation

April 23, 2005 – St. James,
North Carolina (NC) - St. James Plantation welcomes former French
Open doubles champion and ESPN tennis analyst, Luke Jensen to their
Founders Club Tennis Complex for a day of clinics and an exhibition
on Thurs. April 28.
Jensen, with his brother
Murphy, won the 1993 French Open doubles title and earned a number
four doubles ranking on the ATP tour. Because of their entertaining
style of play, the Jensen brothers have been featured on a variety
of national television shows including “The Late Show with David
Letterman” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
“Luke Jensen's visit
demonstrates that St. James Plantation offers high caliber tennis
programming in addition to its golf amenities,” said Brian Preston,
St. James Plantation tennis professional. “Attracting a grand slam
champion bolsters the level of our tennis offering.”
The event schedule is as
follows:
10 – 11:15 am Ladies 2.5-3.0
Clinic
11:15 am– 12:30 pm Men’s Clinic
1:15 – 2:30 pm Ladies 3.5 and up Clinic
2:30 – 3:45 pm Men’s Clinic
4 – 5 pm Exhibition featuring Luke Jensen and Brian Preston, along
with other local tennis pros.
The clinics will focus on
doubles strategy and mental toughness, both well-known concepts to
Jensen as reflected in his career.
In 1993, Jensen won the French
Open doubles title with his brother Murphy, earning them a number
four ranking on the ATP tour. Their entertaining style of playing
has generated attention from various late night talk show hosts
including Jay Leno and David Letterman, whose shows they have been
featured on. Clinics are limited to 12 players and are offered on a
first-come first-serve basis.
