New Programs/Events
Teen, Pre-teen, and Youth
Activities
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the
following activities:
March 31st- Summer Day Camp
Registration- begins at 7am at the Recreation Center ages 3-13
March 31st- Games and Field
Day – Recreation Center 12-2pm ages 5-18
March 31st- Girls’ Slumber
Party Myrtle Beach- ages 10-18 $35
Pre-registration required for

Adult Soccer League
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for an Adult Soccer League. The league is open to men
and women ages 18 and older. Teams are now being formed. The season
will begin in April. All games will be held at the soccer field at
Middleton Park. Games will be in a friendly and supportive
environment. Fee is $100 per team. Individuals and teams are urged
to call 278-4747 for more information.
50+ Softball
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for 50+ Softball. This softball league is open to men
ages 50 and over and women ages 18 and over. The fee is $10 for
residents and $15 for non-residents. Rules are modified to avoid
injury and contact between players. Deadline to register is April
8th. The season will begin in mid-April and run through the end of
May. All games will take place on the softball fields at Middleton
Park. Call 278-4747 for more information.
Lacrosse Clinic
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a
lacrosse clinic for beginners on April 1, 2006 from 10am-12pm.
Coaches will teach participants rules, techniques, and tips to
introduce them to this growing sport. You do not have to have any
lacrosse knowledge or equipment. The clinic is free but you must
register by calling 278-5518. For more information call 278-4747.
Summer Day Camp
Registration
Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will hold camp
registration beginning Friday, March 31st at 7am through Friday,
April 7th at 5pm. Registration forms will be available at the
Recreation Center. Brochures detailing camp information will be
available by March 29th at 5pm. Space is limited for each camp and
slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Call

Lunch Break Yoga
Take a break from work and relieve some stress. Oak Island Parks and
Recreation Department is offering a 30-minute yoga class on
Wednesdays at noon. Fees are $2 for residents and $3 for
non-residents per class. Call 278-5518 for more information.
Summer Youth Employment
Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will begin taking
applications for youth employees on April 3rd. Full-time residents
of the Town of Oak Island, ages 14-17, may apply for a summer
employment opportunity working with our day camps. Deadline for
applications is April 12th at 5pm. Call 278-5518 for more
information.
Note: By Law, appropriate
car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80
pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs
involving transportation.
