Food & Entertainment Announced for the
29th Annual U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament

September 26, 2007 – Southport, North Carolina (NC) - The general public is welcome to attend and enjoy the festivities during the 29th Annual U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament to be held at the Southport Marina from Thursday, October 4th thru Saturday, October 6th.

The tournament will get the party started on Thursday, October 4th – with refreshments and Jim Minett of Key Productions who will be “spinning” your favorite tunes from 4pm-8pm. Those wishing to enter the tournament will be able to do so at the Southport Marina on Thursday from 10am –12midnight under the Big Tent. The Captain’s meeting will begin at 7pm with the signing of our National Anthem by Amiee Lamkin and a tournament blessing by Reverend Skip Williams, Trinity United Methodist Church, Southport.

Friday, October 5th & Saturday, October 6th begins with anglers checking out between 7am-9am at three locations, Lockwood Folly Inlet, Cape Fear River, Masonboro Inlet & Snows Cut Inlet. The scales open at 11am but the peak weigh-in times for the most spectator fun is usually between 2pm-5pm.

On Saturday, get caught up in the Tournament excitement by spending the day at Southport Marina. Elisa’s Caribbean Pot will be serving split pea soup, shrimp n’ grits, curry chicken, curry shrimp and honey corn at a cost between $4-$6. Lucky Dogs will be serving sausage and hot dogs all the way for $2.50 - $3.50. Food will be served from 11am – 7:30pm. The Fat Jack Band will entertain the crowd from 4pm-7pm. The Fat Jack Band has been a favorite Rhythm & Blues & Beach Music in the Myrtle Beach, SC & southeast since 1972.

After the fishing stops on Saturday, the fun really begins, as the anglers begin telling their fish stories as they anxiously await the announcement of the tournament results at 7pm.
