March 24, 2009 – Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina (NC)
- Home wine makers can submit as many wines as they like in the
competition.
There are 3 major categories:
White Grape, Red Grape and Specialty. These are broken down into 3
lesser categories each. For example the White Grape Category
consists of a Vinifera class, a Hybrid Class and a Native Class.
Fruit wines are entered into the Specialty Category.
The wines are judged by the
panel of judges headed by Silver Coast Wine Maker, Dana Keeler. They
blind taste the wines and write down several comments and tips on
how the wine could have been made better.
Entry forms can be gotten on
the Silver Coast Winery website or at the winery. Each entry must be
on a separate entry form with a $5.00 fee for each one entered. The
deadline for submitting the wine entries is March 13th, no later.
The Medal ceremony is on
Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 3:00pm in the beautiful Barrel Room.
Everyone is invited to attend and cheer on these producers of very
nice home made wine.
Silver Coast Winery, located just 15 minutes from the beach in a
woodland setting near Ocean Isle Beach NC offers daily wine tastings
and tours. The winery also has unique gift shops, eclectic art
gallery, extensive picnic grounds and a beautiful barrel room for
weddings and special events.
Winter hours through February:
Closed on Monday and Tuesday (except by appointment). Open
Wednesday-Sunday from Noon until 5:00pm. Regular hours will resume
