April 25, 2009 – Bald Head Island, North Carolina (NC) - Bald Head Island residents and guests celebrated the grand opening of the Island Retreat Spa and Salon on Friday, April 10 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of the new facility. Island Retreat, a 2,200 square foot spa and salon, is the first to be located on the island. In addition to island residents, guests, and Bald Head Island Limited staff members, Daniel Williams, vice president of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce, along with five chamber Ambassadors, were present to welcome Bald Head Island’s newest amenity. “Property owners and visitors have been telling us for years that they wanted a spa on the island,” said Stephen Robertson, chief operating officer for Bald Head Island Limited. “We’re very pleased to be able to announce the opening of Island Retreat Spa and Salon.” Island Retreat Spa and Salon will offer a full range of hair and makeup services, manicures, pedicures, massage and skin care treatments. The spa will also sell its signature, all-natural, eco-friendly lines of hair and skin care products. “Bald Head Island is an ideal spot for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience,” said Rene’ Curtis, spa operator. “Island Retreat Spa and Salon will allow guests to pamper themselves in a soothing atmosphere that reflects the tranquility of the island itself.” Isla O’Donnell, spa operator, extended her appreciation to the developer, Rona Garm and island employees who made the spa a reality. The spa, located centrally near the Maritime Market, is one of several new businesses to open on the island in the past year.
