July 7, 2009 –
Southport, North Carolina
(NC) - A dozen United Methodist Women from Camp United Methodist
Church in Shallotte recently toured Providence Home in Southport.
Since November 1997 this unique ministry has been providing, at no
cost to their families, short-term and safe shelter to Brunswick
County youth ages 10-17 who, due to an emergency, high-risk or
crisis situation, cannot remain with their families. The goal of
Providence Home is to offer youth and their families an opportunity
to work on the problems that led to the youth being placed out of
the home. Shown with UMW members at far left is Warren Morley,
executive director of the shelter. The UMW presented a cash gift,
and learned that the home may also be supported by donations
to/purchases from its Sheltered Treasures Thrift Shops in Sunset
Beach, Calabash and
Southport.
To make your own cash donation send a tax-deductible check to
Providence Home, P.O. Box 11042, Southport, N.C. 28461.
Part of the United Methodist
Church General Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Women is

justice. Members raise nearly $25 million each year for programs and
