Kris's Bio:
Kris Friend is a repeat winner of the
National Novel Writing Month challenge and a
contributing author of The Gratitude
Project. Working on her current novel
developed during the Nanowrimo contest, Kris
draws on her diverse experiences as a
substitute teacher, landscape designer,
management consultant, bartender and parent.
A successful survivor of the feminist era,
Kris attributes Marilyn French's feminist
anthem, The Women's Room, to her quest to
document the life of the everyday woman.
Kris's love of gardening and familiarity
with the visually handicapped led to her
current novel's theme, developing senses.
Born in
New Jersey, Kris attended four high schools
in four years, studying in Paris, Germany,
Switzerland and the U.S. before graduating
and attending Moravian College. Kris's work
history has included legislative assistant
for a New Jersey State Senator, Marketing
Assistant in the entertainment industry,
grant writer for teen drug and alcohol
treatment programs, corporate trainer,
bartender, and window washer. A life change
led Kris to pursue the study of
Horticultural Therapy within the Landscape
Design industry. Since 2001 Kris has worked
in the agriculture technology field in
several commercial greenhouses, managed
garden centers and plant nurseries and
designed therapy gardens for hospice
patients.
Kris is

North Carolina where she also leads writing
workshops for Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Kris
has developed a writing workshop series for
women and is currently working on a therapy
gardening series for the Internet while she
writes her blog for The Southport Times.
Kris
recently moved south from New Jersey and
lives in North Carolina near the beach with
her children, Delilah the black lab, Ziggie
the tiger cat, her kites, and as many
vibrant flowers as possible.
