September 15, 2011 - Leland, NC - This summer the "Reading Buddies" program at the Leland Family Resource Center (LFRC) paired young students with older students and grandparents to work on reading skills. After a successful trial run, the program is being extended into the school year. "Young readers enjoy the one-on-one attention and it transfers to an enjoyment of the reading experience," explains Margaret Roseman, LFRC Site Director. Enrollment of elementary school students is underway. High school and middle school students are needed as volunteer Reading Buddies. The LFRC is a program of Communities In Schools of Brunswick County, Inc. For more information, call 371-5411 or visit www.cisbrunswick.org.
