Ed Bearss Speaks To Full House At Civil War Round Table

Ed BearssJanuary 16, 2012 - Southport, NC - A record audience of over 300, including 37 new member sign-ups, braved a stormy evening to attend the Brunswick Civil War Round Table meeting on Wednesday, January 11, at the Brunswick County Senior Center to hear special guest Ed Bearss. His amazing knowledge of the Civil War and his incomparable style captivated his audience as he spoke for almost ninety minutes on one of the most fascinating and interesting relationships during the war between the  president and his commander of all Union armies. Bearss presentation was entitled: "President Lincoln and General McClellan: A Troubled Partnership." He vividly explained in great detail the stormy relationship Lincoln had with McClellan throughout the war, and eventually dismissed him as Union army commander on November 5, 1862.

The Round Table holds monthly meetings, always with an invited special guest historian, author, educator, or Civil War re-enactor speaking on some aspect of the Civil War. Whether one is a Civil War buff, or simply interested in this important period in our history, audiences always find these presentations informative and entertaining. Everyone is welcome. Guests are encouraged to become members of this growing non-profit organization.
