Ocean Isle Beach Chapter of American
Wine Society Announces Tasting Theme For September Meeting
Ocean Isle
Beach Chapter Meeting September 23, 2012
September
6, 2012 - Ocean Isle Beach, NC - Today the
Ocean Isle Beach
Chapter of the American Wine Society
announced the theme for its next scheduled meeting and
wine tasting event.
The Ocean Isle Beach Chapter will hold its next wine
tasting event for area wine lovers and their guests on
September 23rd. The theme for this meeting will be
"Exploring Unique Wine Varietals." This tasting will
feature seven premium wines that are made from unique
grape varietals such as Mencia and Txakolina.
August's meeting, which featured eight boxed wines from
California, Argentina, and New Zealand were well
received, said Barwikowski, Chapter chair. "The August
tastings demonstrated what many wine snoots feared most,
that quality wines can be purchased in a box. Attendees
did note however, that the quality of the red wines was
superior to those of the white wines. This event was
again attended by a large group with 40 members and
guests in attendance. The Chapter is also planning
tastings featuring Spanish wines and budget based French
wines at future meetings. Everyone is welcome to attend
chapter meetings."
Chapter meetings are held at the
Silver Coast Winery
located at 6680 Barbeque Rd. Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.
The meeting will be held on September 23rd starting at
4:30 PM. The cost of the tasting will be $10 for AWS
members. The guest tasting fee is $15, $5 of which will
be refunded, if the guest joins the American Wine
Society. This event will be limited to 40 members and
guests. All guests are urged to bring their favorite
wine glass for this event. Prior to the tasting, the
chapter will hold a brief meet and greet social with
wine, and cheese being served.
All those planning to attend this event are asked to
RSVP, by 9/19/12 via e-mail to
OceanIsleAWS@gmail.com.
