Dr. Hugh Ronald
Gilliland, 80 of Oak Island died Friday, December 23,
2011 at Ocean Trail Nursing Center.
Dr. Gilliland was born April 18, 1931 to the late Otho
Clyde and Vivian Smith Gilliland. He was raised in
Rayville, Louisiana and was a veteran of the US Army.
Dr. Gilliland was preceded in death by a sister Sandra
Miller.
Surviving are his wife Pat Gilliland of the home; a son
John David Gilliland and wife Ruvina of Cumming,
Georgia; two grandchildren Caitlyn Gilliland and Hannah
Gilliland; a brother Dr. Bobby Gilliland and wife Sara
of Clemson, South Carolina; a brother-in-law Robert
Miller; and three nieces, Clair Campbell, Cindy Miller,
and Cathy Miller, all of Houston, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12 noon
on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Peacock – Newnam & White
Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the
charity of the donor’s choice.
