Evelyn Capps Gornto - Southport

Mrs. Evelyn Capps Gornto age 92 of Southport died Thursday July 5, 2012.

Mrs. Gornto was born in Wilmington, NC on July 15, 1919 and was the son of the late William C. and Evelyn Bullock Capps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. Gornto on May 27, 2012. While spending her summers in North Myrtle Beach, SC she served as the assistant organist with the Methodist Church and also at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport. While residing in Florence, SC she and her dear friend, Pat Henry owned and operated Ruffles and Flourishes. Following retirement Mrs. Gornto and her late husband enjoyed assisting her daughter, granddaughter and son in-law at their restaurant, the Sandfiddler. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Southport.

She is survived by two children, Evelyn “Bunny” Sullivan and husband Victor of Southport, Lester Gornto Jr. and wife Elaine of Leesville, SC; six grandchildren, Vicki Bishop, John Sullivan, Rodney Gornto, Larry Gornto, Barrett Swygert, Keela Amacher; five great grandchildren, Megan Bishop, JJ Sullivan, Lola Gornto, Wendell Lopez, Dane Amacher.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, Southport with Reverend Garrett Albertson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington,NC
