Virginia “Jill”
Bokeny, 94, a recent resident of Carillon Assisted
Living of Southport, and formerly of Raleigh, passed
away on December 4, 2012.
Mrs. Bokeny was
born in Wellington, Ohio on January 2, 1918 to the late
Herbert and Blanche Myers Miller. She was a graduate of
Wellington High School. Mrs. Bokeny loved animals and
enjoyed her friends she knew from living in Ohio and
Raleigh. She was a member of Hilyer Memorial Christian
Church in Raleigh. Mrs. Bokeny was preceded in death by
her husband William Bokeny; two brothers Harold Miller
and Don Miller; and three sisters Grace Morgan, Harriet
England, and Barbara Sigsworth.
Surviving is her son Roger Bokeny and wife Sandra Lyn of
Oak Island; two granddaughters, Sharon Frain, and Karen
Beck; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Sunday,
December 9, 2012 in the Carillon Assisted Living Center
in Southport.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the
Brunswick County Animal Protective Services, P.O. Box 92
